About Us
Goddess Reaching Out is a New Orleans-based nonprofit dedicated to walking hand-in-hand with families impacted by violence, trauma, and food insecurity. Born from personal tragedy and deep love, our mission is to serve as a lifeline for those navigating grief, pain, and the challenges of survival especially when the systems meant to help feel out of reach.
Our story began in the darkest of times. After my younger brother was murdered, my family was shattered. My mother sank into a deep depression, and my father already battling mental illness struggled even more. In the middle of that heartbreak, I realized something: the support we desperately needed didn’t exist. So I created it.
Goddess Reaching Out was birthed from both pain and purpose. It’s a calling. A promise. A commitment to stand in the gap for others like us.
We provide:
Grief & Healing Support: We walk with families through the grieving process from day one. From funeral assistance to ongoing grief support groups for adults and youth, we never leave your side. One-on-one support is available for those who need a more personal touch.
Court Assistance: We attend court proceedings with families, offering not just presence, but power—so no one faces the system alone.
Food Access & Empowerment: Through our Nourish and Empower Community Food Box, we help fight food insecurity by feeding hearts and homes across New Orleans. We also deliver hot meals to grieving families when they need comfort the most.
Youth Empowerment: Our Painting and Conversations program gives young people a safe space to express themselves through art while engaging in real, healing dialogue around trauma and life’s hardest truths.
This is more than a nonprofit. It’s a movement. It’s God reaching out through us, to you. Because even in loss, there is love. And from grief, we can build something powerful, together.
